Yesterday, we had a visit with our dear friend from church, Mrs. Ash, who just celebrated her 95
th birthday in February. She is such a sweet lady, and we try to visit her as often as we are able. She spends the winters in Florida with her daughter, so we planned this visit as soon as we found out she was in town. Always hospitable, she had ice cream and peaches and oatmeal cookies to share with us. Austin was delighted when she pulled out a box of old toys. He calls her Grandma Ash.

Mrs. Ash rarely sends us away empty handed- she let Joseph borrow a very old copy of
Augustine's Confessions, and she gave me two handmade doilies. Mrs. Ash still comes to church every Sunday, and she paints in her free time even though her eyesight is quickly fading. I am very thankful for the friendship we have developed over the years and I'm glad our family has had the privilege of knowing this persevering saint.
